Basically we recommend to use heat-assist as less as possible with PVC/Self Adhesive Vinyls which are used by signmakers. For monomeric vinyls, it’s fine to use it and it will cause no (or much less) “silvering” because adhesive will flow better. For thinner vinyls and especially cast vinyls the use of heat-assist is not recommended.

Important: For 3D applications like car-wrapping, never use heat-assist. This will stretch the very thin laminate and will cause problems during installation or soon after application. This is strictly indicated by most main manufacturers of signmaking/wrapping vinyls like 3M, Avery, Orafol, Arlon, etc. etc.
